With 50 thousand weapons at hand, Pakistan has yet another army
Gilani, Malik issue licenses for unauthorized bore in abundance
Also, 5 lac arms of authorized bore allowed since 2008
Could arming the people with automatic weapons ensure security for common people in the country? It does probably. That's why the Prime Minister and his Interior Minister have proved to be generous enough to issue over 50 thousand licenses for prohibited bore since they took over.
Also, it runs into lacs for those weapons which are marked as authorized bore. The figure for un-authorized bore licenses issued during the
incumbent government stands at 0.5 million.
By virtue of the number of prohibited weapon which might have been bought so far after issuance of licensees, Pakistan surely has an army other
than the one our state bear in uniforms.
Next to such an army, a huge number is understandably of mercenaries who do not let the number of killings in the country fall down to bearable
spheres as they use unlicensed automatic weapons.
It is a fact that the more licenses of arms were issued by the government the more we saw the crime rate rise in the country.
The National Assembly of Pakistan was informed this week that the country registered over 0.5 million crimes in 2010. Punjab led it and there were
as many as 0.4 million crimes registered in the province.
Surely by default, the government at Islamabad issued more licenses in Punjab where as many as 14 thousand people were killed. In all both legal
and illegal weapons were used.
The government issued an average of 15 thousand licenses for unauthorized bore per year and the number has now risen to over 50 thousand in
the country.
The Prime Minister and the Interior Minister allowed issuance of licenses after the public representatives both from treasury and the opposition
benches requested for that. Many ministers also made recommendation for their relatives and contacts that they should be issued licenses for
weapons of unauthorized bore.
As the data goes, around 25 thousand licenses were issued for Karachi, Lahore Peshawar and Quetta. The remaining half--25 thousand--were
issued for rest of the country.
For Sindh, 5368 licenses were issued for Karachi, 1078 Nawab Shah (Benazirabad), 198 Badin, 682 Dadu, 308 Ghotki, 484 Hyderabad, 44 Jamshoro,
66 Kashmor, 308 Khairpur, 682 Larkana, 66 Matyari, 352 Mirpurkhas, 242 Naushehroferoz, 352 Kambar-Shahdadkot, 264 Sanghar, 352 Sukkur, 220
Tharparkar and 30 Umerkot.
For Balochistan Bolan 180, Dera Bugti 270, Jafarabad 567, Kalat 216, Kohlu 54, Loralai 27, Mosa Khel 108, Noshki 108, Pishin 27, Qila Saifullah 108,
Sibi 1674, Ziarat 81, Chaghi 729, Jhal Magsi 189, Ketch 135, Khuzdar 243, Lasbela 54, Mastung 189, Naseerabad 810, Panjgor 27, Qila Abdullah
